Referees Media Day on 04 June 2019

Between 30 May – 08 June, the match officials selected for the FIFA Women’s World Cup France 2019™ are attending their last preparation seminar before the competition, which includes daily practices at the “INSEP (Institut National du Sport, de l’Expertise et de la Performance)” in Paris.

As part of the “Road to France project”, preparatory seminars have taken place over the last three years for referees and assistant referees, focusing on protecting players and the image of the game, as well as on consistency in interpreting the Laws of the Game. Technical expertise, football understanding, fitness and the ability to read the game and teams’ tactical approaches have also been the key topics covered at these seminars. From last year on, the preparatory seminars have also included utilizing video assistant referees (VARs).

After the trainings session, the Chairman of the FIFA Referees Committee Pierluigi Collina, FIFA Director Refereeing Massimo Busacca and FIFA Senior Refereeing Manager Kari Seitz will give an overview about the preparation of the match officials and their expectations.
